Failsworth
Failsworth was originally established in 1875 as ‘Maypole Hat Works’, became ‘The New Failsworth Hat Manufacturing Company’ in 1903 and finally 'Failsworth Hats Limited' in 1940.
Failsworth hats, based in Manchester, supplied the RAF with hand crafted helmets during the war and the Failsworth name became known within retail in the 1950s as they began to supply shops like Harrods and Selfridges.
